Back in April, President Trump signed an executive order pledging to “strengthen HBCUs’ capacity” and elevate their role in federal policymaking. Now, just five months later, the Department of Education has announced it will cancel $350 million in grants for minority-serving institutions. The news has raised alarms online, with many wondering if HBCUs are losing funding.
