The Literary Purveyor preserves and propels the legacy of Black American storytelling. We are literary tastemakers—publishing original work by primarily Black American writers, poets, journalists, and artists across fiction, nonfiction, criticism, and visual media.

Born from the criminalization of Black literacy, Black American literary tradition has always been a tool of resistance—woven through sermons, songs, quilts, hairstyles, and the written word. It’s never been just storytelling. It’s been a path to freedom.
